Disclosure items:

1) If we have worked together previously in individual or group therapy, apologies I am unable to provide couples therapy services to you and your partner.

2) I am unable to keep secrets between the both of you, nor will treatment with me be effective if there is something hidden. In particular this means that if there is a historical affair that your partner is unaware of, and if there is resistance for this being disclosed, I will protect your confidentiality and terminate sessions. If there is a current, ongoing affair that is causing distress: couples work with me will be premature. I will recommend working individually with another therapist to assist with finding clarity about what you really want and need. This might mean we terminate future sessions during the assessment phase.

3) Domestic Violence. If during the assessment phase it becomes clear that there is characterological violence (Violence from one person used to intimidate, threaten, control), both parties need individual intervention separately to 1) cease violence behaviour 2) find safety.
